Message from the Superintendent Of Police
It gives me immense pleasure to launch the official website of the Cooch Behar District police;
The Cooch Behar district is spread over a geographical area of more than 3300 sq.kms, and it has a long international border of about 549 kms with Bangladesh and about 80 kms border with the neighbouring state of Assam, which makes policing in Cooch Behar district quite challenging.
It has been always our endeavour to provide safety and security to the people of Cooch Behar. We believe in delivery of our services in fast, transparent and responsive manner and develop an environment of mutual trust and understanding so as to ensure free flow of information and exchange of ideas to improve policing in the district.
Our top most priority is to set the criminal justice system in motion at the very first interface of the information about cognizable offence with the police authorities. In a nutshell we are committed to fair registration of all cognizable cases as our bounden duty.

Prevention and detection of crime against women is our foremost objective. Some of the recent initiative taken by the state government and Police West Bengal i.e. opening of Women Police Station for Sadar Sub-division, Protection of Women and Child Cell at Police office and Women Help Desk in all police stations has greatly improved the accessibility of women victims to the police. The first Women Police Station for Sadar Sub-Division has been functioning since 12th March, 2015 which apart from investigating cases relating to CAW is doing a good job in awareness generation in school, colleges and remote villages on women related issues.
Our motto is to strive for excellence through continuous improvement in our service delivery, which we try to achieve through police modernisation, use of scientific aides in policing, training of police personnel and involvement of various stakeholders for better policing.
To achieve our goals, we need your support and co-operation.
We also welcome your feedback and suggestions.
I thank you for visiting our website.
Jai Hind
Shri Sumit Kumar, IPS
Superintendent of Police,
Cooch Behar
