Reception of first batch of erstwhile enclave dwellers who opted to retain Indian
citizenship : The final movement of erstwhile Indian enclave dwellers who opted to retain
Indian citizenship from Bangladesh began from 19th November, 2015 to 30th November,
2015 through there temporary immigration check post under Coochbehar District. In
pursuance of the implementation of Indo-Bangladesh Land Boundary Agreement, 1974
and its Protocol 2011. As per movement schedule, the first batch of erstwhile Indian
enclaves dwellers entered into Indian territory through Burimari-Changrabandha
immigration check post under Mekhliganj police station. A welcome programme was
organized by district administration at Changrabandha zreo point for warm reception of
the first batch of Indian enclaves dwellers. DM Coochbehar accompanied by SP
Coochbehar and some prominent political leaders of the district attended the reception
programme. They extended warm reception toward the enclave dwellers during their
entry into Indian Territory. The first batch consist of 17 families were accommodated at
settlement camp at Mekliganj.
