Celebration of Independence Day at village Poaturkuthi, erstwhile Bangladesh enclaves

Since the midnight of July 31st 2015 referred as “Appointed Day”, all Bangladesh enclaves
land in India has become the part of the Indian territory and vice versa. As such for the
first time, the resident of erstwhile Bangladesh enclaves in India who opted to become
Indian citizen celebrated their first Indian Independence Day in year 2015 in the enclave.

Ulganathan IAS, District Magistrate Coochbehar (picture inset) attended the historic
Independence Day celebration programme at village Bhatrigach, a erstwhile Bangladesh
enclaves under Dinhata PS, Coochbehar. The celebration began with the hosting of
National flag with the Police band playing tune of National Anthem followed by distribution
of wearing garments and sports materials to the people and youth of the enclave dwellers.
